Nixon could have told you about bias in the media. Eisenhower and Nixon tried to stand against what they called the "military/industrial complex.
From his 1974 State of the Union, about 8 months before they forced his resignation ;
"Throughout the 5 years that I have served as your President, I have had one overriding aim, and that was to establish a new structure of peace in the world that can free future generations of the scourge of war. I can understand that others may have different priorities. This has been and this will remain my first priority and the chief legacy I hope to leave from the 8 years of my Presidency".
He was also trying to pass legislation for National Health Insurence, and had Project Independence going to make the US entirely energy self sufficent by 1980, with our electric power generation being entirly non fossil fuels useing nuclear and hydro electric.
Which one of the three do you think made them overthrow the Nixon Presidency? Maybe all three? All three were junked as soon as they got Nixon out of the way. Nixon ended the Cold War, but it was reignited asap, first in Hollywood movies, novels, comic books, and then the slow beating of editorial drums and artfull news stories..... at the behest of...? Its much the same today, much the same if evolved power behind the politics.
