LW4: You asked for it, , ,you GOT IT!

You chose a school of snobs, and that's what you got. Want it to change, change your school or conform. It's also possible that since you don't take yourself too seriously, that perhaps you're NOT as smart as others. Many people claim to be smarter than others due to "the fact that I don't have to brag about my intelligence". . . well, my dog doesn't brag about his intelligence either, but I have yet to see him master long division.

Perhaps, as it often does, you're party-girl antics are getting in the way of others, perhaps your lifestyle is interfeering with theirs, who knows, but if you chose to put your social preferences and partying attitude out in front, then expect to be judged by it. The reason others attend that school instead of other "alcoholic academies" is because they want their education to be taken seriously, and it seems you are trying to put a dent in that.

Often times people that "Don't take things as seriously as others", fail to see or understand the finer points that need to be accounted for from time to time. You say you were a brainiac in high school: well that's no big feat (at least not here in America), our highschool standards suck, and are extremely inconsistant. It could be that you were the brainiac (or just got the REPUTATION of being a brainaic), in a small, underachieving school, no real reason to pat yourself on the back for that. Also, being the "Brainiac" at a high school simply means that a bunch of knucklehead teenagers THOUGHT you were a brainiac (or simply not as much of a stoner as they were), , and a bunch of teachers (most of whom make less than the nation average annual income). Wasn't hard to be the brainiac at the high school I went to, anyone that would just lay off the weed and booze for a week or so would likely be the smartest person in the school, at least for that week (Ok, maybe that was a bit of an exageration, but you get the point).

The point is, if you want to find out where you REALLY stand (Im' guessing somewherebetween YOUR opinion of yourself, and OTHER PEOPLE'S opinion of you), then go ahead and take it all seriously for a while and see what is what.

Are you crazy???? Just because she is going to a good school she has to put up with some peoples stuck up, narrow minded, insecurities??

It is obvious that those "friends" are intimidated by her ability to be comfortable somewhere other than the classroom. No where in there does she say she is a "party girl". The ability to enjoy a drink and some time on the dance floor does not make someone a "party girl" Did you completely miss the part where she says that she is still maintains good grades, kinda hard to do if you are partying all the time like you suggests she is.

How about the fact that the people she calls friends and not friends at all and are just idiots.

Then what soloution do you have to cure everyone of being stuck up?. . . didn't think so. .

It is obvious that those "friends" are intimidated by her ability to be comfortable somewhere other than the classroom.

It's obvious that is ONE possible soloution, but to think that is the ONLY soloution is absurd. . .

No where in there does she say she is a "party girl". The ability to enjoy a drink and some time on the dance floor does not make someone a "party girl"

Yet somehow her "ability to enjoy a stiff drink" makes her stand out from the rest in that aspect. . . Think about it. . .

Did you completely miss the part where she says that she is still maintains good grades, kinda hard to do if you are partying all the time like you suggests she is.

Kinda hard for YOU maybe, not to everyone. Besides "Good Grades" is a bit vague, ,, if someone tells me they got "good grades", I wouldn't think they meant 4.0, , I'm thinking "good enough to pass the course"

I think it's awful that both you and Prudie made terrible assumptions about this girl. I know it's the internet, but damn, that's still no excuse for judging this girl the way you have.

In the group I meet with every week for karaoke, I am usually one of the most sober. I do enjoy a single strong drink or two, but that does not make me an alcoholic.

This girl came here for advice, not for judgment passed from a single paragraph. Until you've requested a copy of her transcripts, or *gasp!*, actually meet her and get to know her, I'd back off if I were you. God forbid she enjoy some drinks and some fun on the side, when not studying or in class. If you're judging her on that, does that make me smell a hint of jealousy? Of course, if you don't like that judgment I've just passed on you, then be quiet. It goes both ways.
