War for oil
by Bob C

Only Ron Paul had the sense to discuss "cutting spending".

All the rest talk about cutting taxes...what good does that do if we continue to pile up debt fighting endless wars to support our empire?

Anybody who thinks we can "pre emptively" keep spending trillions on keeping our appetite for oil sated can't do basic math and has a bully mentality.

By the way, ONE MORE TIME - "non interventionism"

not isolationism okay???

GOOGLE Ron Paul for President 2008

Anyone who thinks that the war in Iraq was just to steal their oil is a moron.

If we only wanted the oil, we just had to lift the sanctions.

We didn't just want the oil...we wanted absolute control of it! With the permanent bases that Bush has just announced - he has what he was after all along...

"We didn't just want the oil...we wanted absolute control of it! With the permanent bases that Bush has just announced - he has what he was after all along... " Yep, headhunt is correct you would have to be a moron to believe that.

I agree with most of what Bob says, but I also agree with the posters who say this war isn't about the oil - they're right. This war is about MONEY LAUNDERING. No bid contracts go to Cheney's cronies (only because Bush isn't smart enough to understand the process), payment(s) IN FULL are made IN ADVANCE, with no controls or cost accounting, contracts are not fulfilled, work is never completed, profiteering scumbags line their pockets and much is diverted back to - guess who? The Republican National Committee and individual campaigns ! Nice and neat.

Don't believe me? It's public knowlege - look it up for yourself how much war contractors are contibuting to Republican political campaigns. Astronomical.

And those shameful enough to wrap themselves in the flag and claim to be patriots "Supporting Our Troops" please explain to me how we can be spending over a BILLION a month and still can't afford body armour for our soldiers and armour plate for the Humvees.

Please tell me...

Wasn't the war about finding Weapons of Mass Destruction? On Paul Wolfowitz's account, that was the only justification for going into Iraq that the Bush cabinet could agree on, and who are we to doubt Wolfowitz?

Somehow you and headhunt know why we invaded Iraq, interesting I know of no one else that does.

Are you guys really just Bush and Cheney wasting time?

Can't you smell sarcasm, smelly?

Money Laundering? Money Laundering? Do you even know what that is?

If you said profiteering at least you would have been used a term you could have defended (although you would have been wrong then too).

I think thats bullshit you're smelling.

Smelly says: I think thats bullshit you're smelling.

Maybe it is. But how would I know? I'm just relaying what Wolfowitz has said. I'm not privy to his inner thoughts.

One reason we're in Iraq--still in Iraq--is that thirty percent and more of the American people seem to believe whatever comes out of the Bush propaganda machine, no matter how absurd.

we're there to:

permanently have military bases in this oil region. we have at least 735 military bases on the sovereign soil of others. but I don't think others have bases here.

profiteer oil and munitions

project military power over western asia minor

keep the military industrial complex exercised.

suppress islamic extremism

make sure the Saud family money continues to flow into the pockets of the USA elite and Bush et al

to have Orwellian enemies, so the fear fear hate hate thing keeps those damn US citizens/sheep convinced we have to borrow huge monies from china and sell banks to Abu Dhabi. And forgo health universal health care...while Clintons and Bushes et al secure dynasties and bribes to avoid policies of energy independence.

and hide money in Qatar or someplace nearby.

I have taken the position that if I don't know and the Bush administration wants it, then it is bullshit and it is wrong.Presidents should be able to enjoy the benefit of the doubt, this one has long since lost that benefit.
