disagreed wholeheartedly. reason is a fine piece of journalism and has a lot to add to the usual political discourse. considering there exists a journal of opinion for nearly every other mainstream school of political though--the national review for traditional conservatives, the weekly standard for neoconservatives, the nation for american liberals--it's nice to see one representing the classical liberal side of things.
though i'm not a subscriber to any of the aforementioned, i pick up a copy of each of these often enough. i would say that the accusation that each article ends on a smug note is totally inaccurate. it is true, however, that reason has an agenda in mind--but that is the case of every other respected journal of opinion.
it only takes an open mind to be able to consider each side's opinion. journalism is a good place to begin taking it all in, and disagreeing is all part of the process of forming a take of the issues of your own, albeit respectfully disageeing.
