I see that self reporting problem again.
by janeslogin

"They focused on 7,000 or so high-school and middle-school students who reported, via questionnaire ,..."

The respondents were reporting what they think they are expected to report. Some report the truth of course, others fudge the facts to earlier or later dates.

So the entire study is based upon what the subject study group reported as the date of first sexual experience, not upon what they did, or did not, in fact do.

Not to mention the fact that high school and middle school kids routinely lie like sidewalks when it comes to anything involving sex. I'd be willing to bet that the number of kids that actually are sexually active is considerably different than the ones that said they're sexually active.

Very good observation. They should repeat the studies with hymen checks! Just kidding- yes yes I know hymens can be torn during exercise. And it seems to happen a lot too. Especially among 'good girls ;);)

Yep... all the boys are saying they're having sex when they aren't and the girls are saying they aren't when they are. A self-report really should not have been used.
