Intelligence and genetics
by kcbrady
The real problem in this discussion is the notion that intelligence is something that can be measured with a paper and pencil test. Intelligence is the capacity to adapt to the environment in which you find yourself (Herbert Simon, among others).
By that measure, most humans are turning out to be pretty stupid.
Which is why the CEO

probably has a lower IQ than most of the IT department.

If intelligence so-called is a property of non-human animals or artificial beings then we will unearth what that measure is given time.

If intelligence is only a property of humans then it is a purely cultural construct and we can define it any way we like: some say it is the capacity to adapt to the environment in which you find yourself, some say that it is 'g', others talk about emotional intelligence. Who's right? Who gets to decide the rules? Those with the strongest will, the loudest voice, the most humane description?

By any measure, most humans are dumb including you and including me.

"Intelligence is the capacity to adapt to the environment in which you find yourself"

If this is definition you want to use, then the accepted number for africans ave.IQ of 67 is just about right, as they lived a subsistance existance for the last 100,000 years, only slightly more advanced than the other primates
