There's More and Worse...read on....

The Mormon weirdness Hitchens mentions isn't the half of it.

What about the fact that until 1990 the Mormon temple ceremony in which all worthy adult Mormons including Mitt and his wife participated, required the in unison acting out by all participants of mock throat cutting and disemboweling to demonstrate the penalty to be imposed for revealing the secret password and handshake necessary for entry into heaven?

Or that fact that until 1990 all Christian clergymen were described in the temple ceremony as being in the employ of Satan?

WTF. Gimme a break. I suppose we shouldn't pry into the faith of David Koresh or Jim Jones either....oh, I get it Mitt, it's only crazies who want to be president of the United States whose "faith" is above public scrutiny.

Seriously, where do you get your information! These "facts" you mention, where do they come from? Obviously you are just as misinformed as Hitchens. I had to laugh as there have never been such things you mention. How does it feel to be so wrong and yet be so sure about it? It must feel empowering living in that tiny personal universe where you can believe whatever you want to.....even if it is wrong. However, when posting, get your facts straight so you don't waste people's time.

Reality must be addressed: have you not read the unreality and fabrication of the Book of Mormon? You mean Eden is not in Missouri? You mean Jesus did not appear in America to preach to the Indians, the lost tribes of Israel; you mean no gold tablets were found inscribed by God; you mean having 10 or more wives is not proper; you mean there is no Mormon underwear; hmmmmmmmmmmmm

guess we got it all wrong

How long have you been a member of the church? Have you ever been to the temple? Was it before 1990? I attended the temple regularly from 1985 until 2003, and can verify that everything philstory said is true. I saw it many, many times.

I would be interested in understanding some symbolism before I pass judgement. Sounds similar to the law of Moses stuff in the bible.

All these wierd facts people are bringing up don't change the way I know mormons to be. I respect the religion based on how I see the mormons live there lives. I haven't heard mormons insult other religions, even when they are being insulted. Classy people. Maybe we can learn something from them without worrying so much about their beliefs.

I am a Mormon and I appreciate your comments. It will probably never sink in to many people that no matter what is said about our religion, we will continue to keep doing good. We will have Family Home Evening on Mondays, we will give ten percent of our income to help pay for our beautiful buildings and church needs, we will continue to give aid to the poor and needy, we will visit the widows, we will continue to send relief to third world countries, we will be there every Sunday to worship God and His Son Jesus Christ, we will study our scriptures, we will continue to send our young men out to preach the gospel, and we will continue to serve our fellowmen. Oh and we will continue to live in peace, happiness, and comfort. I'm sorry it makes you guys angry that we believe in these things. What do you do for the God you believ in?
