There are so many inaccuracies in Hitchens' diatribe against Mormonism that it would take many paragraphs to even begin to correct his misuderstandings of the tenets of the religion. The one glaring misstatement is his assertion that Mormons believe that God's laws take precedent over the law of the land. This is 100% wrong. One of the 13 articles of the Mormon faith states "We believe in being subject to kings, rulers...and in honoring and sustaining the law". Mormons are specifically taught to obey the law of the country in which they live, and if the law needs to be changed, to work within the framework of the provisions of said country to change it. Such gross misstatement of facts does not add to reasoned debate.
