My Kindle
by Hubie

I'm one of the suckers who ordered her Kindle the day it was available. Or rather, a darling man-in-my-life ordered it for me.

I have to say, I love it. Yes, it's not as sexy as the ipod or iphone. But, downloading 'The House of Mirth' for $1.60 while riding in a car on the interstate IS sexy. Nevermind being able to simply add a book when I'm finished with one WITHOUT having to brave the holiday shoppers over the Thanksgiving weekend was certainly on my 'thankful list'.

I'm one of those people who tends to read 2 or 3 books at a time. I switch between them and it's nice to have opportunity without adding some pounds to my handbag. It remember where I was in each book, lets me look up words in the text I'm reading, on the fly, and lets me read blogs and newspapers while headed over the river and through the woods to Grandmother's house.

For me, the test of a truly good book is not that I can't put it down, but that I WANT to put it down and come back to it later in order to savor it... to make it last longer. The Kindle makes that easy. I hit the home button, scroll the wheel and savor something else.

Yes it has flaws, yes it certainly needs improvement, but for what it is, it sure is something.
