This is devastating.

We claim to not be insensitive to the civilians whose lives we endanger in our quest to stamp out terrorism, and we keep them in this unspeakably dangerous situation. Due to our involvement in Iraq, these people are displaced - and I can only imagine it is the fact they are Iraqi citizens that keeps them from being allowed refugee status in the U.S.

We keep fighting this war as though Iraq, and thereby all Iraqis, are the enemy, when theoretically we entered this war to fight against terrorism, and terrorists. I don't think even the current president would suggest that the entire nation is composed of terrorists, so why do we not offer these civilians - who are supposed to be able to pick up the nation after the war, right? - a safe haven? Hell, if we did offer them a safe place, they might even be kindly disposed toward the U.S., instead of having the only image they can have of us right now, which is as warmongers in their country.
