Can anybody read this editorial and tell me where he gives a good, solid reason for giving illegal immigrants drivers' licenses?

Faced with the problem of what to do with thousands of illegal immigrants who drive on state roadways every day to go to work

Illegals do drive, don't have licenses, and therefore can't get insurance, which means that everyone else is going to pay for the damage caused by accidents with illegals.

He didn't and he can't

There is no reason to give illegals a legal U.S. document.

Just because they are driving on our roads now is not a good reason to give illegals legal documents. If they cause or have an accident while driving on our roads put them in jail and after servering their time, send them back to where they came.

Why are you in favor of letting illegals get away without paying their fair share? Why should they not have to pay for insurance?

Why shouldn't illegals have to suffer through the DMV?

a drivers license is a legal document, why would you want to give a legal document to someone that is illegal? And giving them a license to drive does not mean they will get insurance. Many illegals around here drive without insurance all the time.

I fail to see how giving illegal aliens a drivers license will somehow change that.

Can you explain further?

Navarette's a notorious apologist for illegals

I only read him for the laughs, personally...

Why not

...simply arrest every illegal when guilty of a traffic violation, and then immediately deport them? Problems solved.

Any crime committed by any illegal in this country...immediate deportation. NO exceptions.

Whas' wrong wit' dat?

But who pays for the damage to my car?

of insurance before they will issue a license.

"If they cause or have an accident while driving on our roads put them in jail and after servering their time, send them back to where they came."

So not only does the other party in the accident get stuck with all expenses but the taxpayer gets stuck with $40k per year room and board. Doesn't seem real cost effective. Maybe a better idea would be to put the illegal's employer in jail and RICO his assets to pay for his jail time and the expense of catching him? No jobs, no problem.

Don't even need to read it to know.....

...that he doesn't give a good, solid reason for doing so. Because there is no good solid reason for doing so.
Point is

...they shouldn't have JOBS in this country, make MONEY in this country, or have CARS AND DRIVE THEM in this country.

If you let them buy cars, drive to work, pay for insurance, and get licenses, they're legal residents, basically. I would tend to oppose that.

Great. Driving without a license.
by Shelia_B

How did they register the car they're driving without a drivers license?

Not only is it illegal to be here undocumented, it's illegal to drive without a license - arrest them and put them on the first bus out.

Eventually, they'll either all stop driving or all be gone. Either way, problem solved.
