Thought provoking question of the day.
by berzerker

Hypothectically speaking, WWII revisited.

Let's say the Japanese never attacked America. Let's say that Germany never invaded its neighbors.

If the US found out about the holocaust (as 99% of the world knows it happened...the other 1% being retards), the numbers, the slavery, the murder, the torture, the attempted genocide of a group of people by Hitler...and Hitler refused to stop and refused any type of diplomatic pressure...

would YOU personally have asked your government to go to war to stop the continuing murders?

I would have.

Have you asked your gov't to go to war
by Boltlady
with Israel? They're doing all those things to the Palestinians.

That's a difficult question to answer honestly. In hindsight, you absolutely ask your government to go to war. Then again, many at the time opposed getting involved over legitimate concerns. For one, the country was still recovering from the prior "war to end all wars." Second, the country was hardly prepared to engage in a multi-fronted military action. The U.S. had just endured a horrible economic catastrophe and our resources were depleted. If Pearl Harbor had not occured to rally the country, and FDR had not shown amazing leadership in convincing the citizens of the country to sacrifice their personal comfort for the good of the world at large (in the process radically shifting the way in which the country opperates), I doubt the public would have ever been able to support such a conflict. Had I been alive at that time, and not having the attack on Pearl Harbor, I don't know that I would have been itching to solve the problems on other continents.

But ask somebody who LIVES in the Middle East, not someone connected to this government about what is being done to the Palestinians...

by people who have less,FAR LESS claim to any country there than the American Indians have to ALL of North America.

answer with a question coward
by Abused

you are full of moor lies than Satan himself.

So no you would not as you hate Jews and want to see every Jew dead.

niiiiiice.........

I thought "Genocide" was a problem for the world
by Abused

not one continent.

So you would not want to stop the "genocide" of Jews. Would you want to stop the "genocide" of any ethnic group?

Palestinians are not being genocide by
by Abused

the Jews. They are where they are because of the muslim nations not because of Israel.

Funny...I think this is the second time you've called me a liar and a coward...yet you seem fine with the cowardice of bush and cheney not to mention their lies.

All I said was ask someone who LIVES in the Middle East...where is that lying or cowardice?

Perhaps it's time to question your cowardice and or honesty...which I had not either one.

Yes, I would. However, I'd have been advocating intervention before that even became known. I favor using military force to repel military force, so I would have been in favor of opposing the Japanese and Germans from when they first started conquering peaceful neighbors. It's the same way I reluctantly supported the use of force if needed to liberate Kuwait. Countries simply cannot be allowed to come out ahead through military expansion. There needs to be a clear message that such aggression always will end badly. The ultimate enemy is war itself, and you make it a less appetizing option if you send a clear signal it will never be an avenue for gain. However, assuming you're thinking about the more recent invasion of Iraq, that's a different story. In that case, the US was the aggressor.
Knowing they were enslaving,
by berzerker

and gassing people by the millions...wouldn't motivate you enough to want to get involved?

I'm not asking about the "public".

I'm asking about YOU.

Would you tolerate someone enslaving and starving and murdering millions of people because of their religon/race?

We aren't talking about a few thousand Bosnian's...we are talking about MILLIONS.

And you KNEW it was happening. You knew about the camps. You knew about the gas.

You KNEW all this.

And you wouldn't try to motivate your country to stop it?

Nope, reread the scenairo.
by berzerker

No invasion of neighbors. No wars anywhere else.

Just the mere knowledge and proof that the camps existed, that millions were being enslaved, millions were being starved, millions were being murdered...and diplomacy wasn't stopping him.

Would you have urged your country to war?

(and let's not forget that Haiti wasn't out invading anyone, right?).

Re: I would.

No doubt.
Re: As usual, you're a little short in the

facts department.

Try dealing with the facts.

Proportion and its absence.
by furioustote

You CAN NOT seriously be equating the Jewish Holocaust in Europe with the Israeli administration of and counter terrorist operations in the legitimately captured territory of the West Bank?

My GOD! I had no idea SIX MILLION Jordanians…err I mean Palestinians had been murdered? Where are the bodies? Where are the concentration camps?

Good Lord the disingenuousness piles up so fast here you need wings to stay above it.

"with the Israeli administration of and counter terrorist operations in the legitimately captured territory of the West Bank?"

No I wasn't...I merely asked why nobody asked anyone LIVING in the Middle East about that situation...

But whom was it "legitimately captured territory of the West Bank" ,by whom and under what rights...there where people livingthere, who had been living there for hundreds of years when Israel just up and "captured" it...sorry about your homes and families but we're taking this now...
