Grady Hendrix is the worst
by pure_mercury
Good God. Can he write ANYTHING without comparing what people do to a corporate job? Saw IV = perfect movie for middle managers? LAPRers are escaping the "slavery" of Starbucks? Starbucks (again) is the subtext of 28 Weeks Later? What the hell is he going on about? He even starts this article off with a blatant misstatement of fact. Americans (especially college-age and recent grads) are volunteering at record numbers (about 26-27% in the 2000s). Sounds like the desperate ramblings of an anti-globalization, anti-individualist wingnut with an ax to grind. Or someone pissed in his latte.

Hendrix is only basing his analysis on what the people in the movie claim. Like, this one guy works at Starbucks, and he says, "I hate my job at starbucks, so I go have fun in Darkon." Get of your ideological high-horse and watch the movie before you make a fool out of yourself.

I am the one on an ideological high horse? I don't think so. Also, in addition, shouldn't someone who runs an Asian film festival be more into the positive aspects of global trade and exchange (artistic, cultural, and financial)?
