Are we seriously worried about a presidential candidate not covering his heart for the Star Spangled Banner? Seriously?

This wasn't the pledge of allegiance. This is pathetic.

No wonder our country is in such a mess. People are so worried about the most trivial things - when really we need to focus on all those lives lost at war, child not receiving proper healthcare, the environment, the economy, etc.

If this is really an important issue to discuss, than I am embarassed to call myself an American.

You must be really embarassed then huh? You MUST place your hand over your heart during the National Anthem as well. As a mom of 2 currently serving our country - THIS IS A BIG DEAL! We are talking about the man that is running for President of our United States, not for local city commissioner here!

If you remember, this is the same candidate that refused to wear an United States Flag pin on his lapel a few weeks ago.

milmom - with all due respect, as someone who is serving while a war is going on, aren't you more concerned about why you're fighting and getting out of this mess your commander in chief has placed you in rather than whether or not someone makes a gesture during a song?? if my life were on the line, i honestly think that obama's accessory and gesture choices would be the least of my worries. i have family members and friends that have served in this war and after speaking with them, i honestly think that i would be pissed off about my safety being jeopardized over a lie; especially if i had a husband and kids who were worried about me and waiting for me to come home. i mean really, what's the priority?

you should be asking yourself why your family is not home with you right now. Dont be blind, dont support this war. Bring them home. Do it now.

What has wearing a flag pen have to do with patriotism? You need a reality check......people are too caught up with symbolic gestures. It's so rediculous and stupid that any of this is even an issue. We need to be talking about real issues such as the war, the economy, etc...... Get real
