Obama, Clinton, Paul, Giuliani, Romney...A lot of candidates are out there for the choosing in '08. The primaries are just months a way, and the election day for our new head of state is less than a year away. I can't imagine a more important election in recent years. Sure, the 2000 election was legendary, and the 2004 one could have been, but unfortunately, we got Bush for four more years. Now the time has come for the most disasterous leader our country has ever elected to step down. The dollar is now worth less than the Canadian dollar. The crisis in the Middle East seems beyond repair for years. America has become a globally detested country. The Bush administration has turned America into the laughing stock of the world. A lot of responsibility lies in the hands of the next president to restore America's integrity.
So who will that be? How does one possibly choose the new leader of the "free world?" After all, whether a candidate is a Democrat, Republican, or Independent, they're all just politicians. The only thing they care about is getting your vote, so how can you tell if the candidate's promises during debates are not empty promises? Take a look at Obama. He's the only candidate I have seen that seems less like a politician and more like an overall good human being who cares about the people. Why? Because he doesn't succumb to these ridiculous policies about our flag and our national anthem. This proves to me that he's an honest guy who doesn't sacrifice his principles. The extremist right-wingers may call him unpatriotic for not wearing an American flag lapel pin, and for not putting his hand over his heart during the National Anthem, but it's due time for this nonsense to stop. Obama's being a patriot by not sacrificing his free will and his right to have an opinion. Our country was founded on the basis of these principles. After all, how can one feel proud of a flag and your country's national song when we live in a country that has looked more like a tyranny over the past years, policing the world, and incriminating its own citizens for speaking their minds?
