This can and should be a higher profile story

In fact, it seems like it has been making more headlines lately.
I'm
not sure if it is a better idea to ensure the safety of these Iraqi
individuals by ensuring that they are safely resettled in the US, or in
a neighboring Arab country (that in itself is a question that Kaplan
should have brough up), but it is an issue that needs to stay in the
public eye.
In fact, looking at the refugee situation is a much
more appropriate way to gauge our success in the region than other
factors. Now that violence has started to go down, we need new
benchmarks to meet. The resettling and\or safety of these people is a
good lense with which to view the situation.
Personally, I
would rather see "code pink" or other protesters picketing for this
issue than for pulling the troops out immediately. So if Bush won't
make this happen, we can make it part of the congressional debate, or
even the presidential election menu of issues. Pay attention.
