Obama and the others of his ilk are really too good to stoop to crass displays of patriotism. The fact that they are liberals and really, really care about the poor downtrodden is proof enough of their loyalty to our country. The ones who display the lapel pin and, can you believe it?, actually have to wear a flag on their shoulder do not yet know how really unAmerican they are.

The left shows the same disdain for patriotuism that they do for religion and real democracy. They believe, in the secret places where only the really smart liberal can go, that democracy is good to get them into power but the real power needs to be weided by those who have the populations best interests at heart. The electorate is good for maintaining power but our elites really understand what is best. If they are liberals.

The disdain for hunters is now apparently being matched by their disdain for crass, overt, uninformed displays of the flag and loyalty to our country. Someone tell the soldiers, please. I cannot stand them being so wrong any longer

As for myself, I have flag lapel pins all over me right now. I even got my tongue pierced with one. I'm also not elite at all. In fact, I got a lobotomy because I was worried that I was getting too elite when I got my GED. Actually, I did the lobotomy myself, with my hunting knife. Of course, I had no idea what I was doing, 'cause I ain't no elitist brain surgeon, but I'm doin' just fine all the same, thank you very much.

If by "flag"you mean a dooby, then yes, I do burn one every night. Me and all my addict loving lawyer friends. We don't use US flag papers; we emulate our new gov't by rolling the weed up with papers that are exact replicas of the Bill of Rights. Usually, by the time we get to the 9th Amendment, the roach is too short to toke. Kinda ironic, eh? Nobody pays any mind to those last two amendments anyhoo.

The “Left” and the “Right” in America are very similar. The American political spectrum is very narrow and conservative when compared to all possible political systems. I never understood why Americans get so hyped up about the liberals or conservatives.

Money drives our political system and more and more money is being concentrated with the elites these days. The Republicans, Democrats and the rest of us are to blame for letting this happen. Money undermines “real democracy.”

Well money is one measure of worth of a person. Would granting power be better based on school grades? Go hang out in the post office or the bus station for a day before you try to tell me you want a real democracy. Do you REALLY want those people to run your government?

We blow a lot of smoke about being a constitutional democracy. What you seem to be talking about is an oligarchy. If Americans want to live in an oligarchy then let's have an oligarchy. But we should be up front about it.

Money is one measure of the worth of a person. But is it the applicable measure envisioned by our political system? I hope not.

I have been in post offices, bus stations and other places where Americans of modest means and abilities congregate. They will never run the government because our country is a representative democracy. But the people who do run the government should be accountable to them in a real way instead of only being accountable to rich lobbyists and a relatively small group of elites.

I guess reasonable people agree there is no need to defend Obama's patriotism. The problem I have with Obama is his "Holier than thou" attitude.
