Born and raised in Seattle, I can tell you that 99.9% of Seattle-ites would be creeped out kissing even a close friend...... That goes double for kissing on the lips!.... Unless, of course, they're not friends, but something else.

Never seen that kind of activity in San Francisc either. I don't live there, but visited. I also spent some time in LA and never saw people act like that.

It depends a great deal on the style of the kiss. Was it just a peck or did they moosh their lips together, sucking like a vacuum cleaner, and stick their tongues down each others throats? There is absolutely no romance (intended or implied) in a peck on the lips. I kiss my mother like that all the time (not my sisters though eew!).
