To Bonnie Goldstein
by luckyhank

"In this instance, though, behind the upraised fist you may glimpse a Rolex watch."

Not being a member of the WGA, I'll admit that my response may lack a certain poetry but...

Bite me.

I work in reality TV--we don't make much money, but we certainly work enough hours to resent it. We also write (not just crafting storylines but providing actual dialogue), and the WGA has been trying with little success to unionize us for years.

These showrunners may be wealthy--though I think you'd be surprised there, as well--but if they refuse to keep the machine running, it helps all of us.

By the way, if anyone in the WGA is making any money at all, it's only because they're making the studios and networks an exponential amount more.

So good on these showrunners for standing in unison, and shame on Bonnie Goldstein for thinking that everybody who writes for television lives a Vanity Fair lifestyle.

Dear Lucky-- Your job "providing dialogue" for "unscripted," programming is among the trickiest and least appreciated in the tv business. I wish you and the other reality writers the best in joining WGA. Bonnie Goldstein

ps. in fairness, perhaps I was jumping to conclusions about David E. Kelley's wrist wear. his watch in this image seems to be a Cartier tank.

pps. bite me? do you write with that mouth?
