ROSENBAUM'S A SNOBBISH HACK

Every column of Rosenbaum's I read convinces me that he's never moved past his sophmoric year in college where he discovered he could get a few grins out of people by hating everything that other people enjoyed. The way his logic works is that, A)people are a bunch of idiots, except for myself) B)therefore whatever these bunch of idiots likes, must be just as idotic.) C)I'm not an idiot, and so I can't possibly like what others like, or I'm an idiot like them.

While many talented people go through this phase at some point in their artistic careers, Rosenbaum has never left it. This piece on Senfeld reminds me of a monkey throwing his poop on the wall and calling it critique.

I am completely in agreement with you. I have no real opinion on Seinfeld.

But this article is painful. It's something you'd hear from a stinky, pretentious Trustifarian a college party. Maybe the dude who interveiws obscure bands for a local underground magazine.

"I know this guy you've never heard of and he's the best thing ever. All the insiders worship him and the only reason you don't know about him is because the Man is keeping him down. He's like, authentic. Hard-core. He peddled his ass for sex. Seinfeld didn't do that. "

Amen! It's pathetic how people like Rosenbaum have to take cheap shops at anything that smacks of popular culture. It reminds me of when I was in high school in the 70s where me and all my friends thought "progressive" music was the only stuff worth listening too, and how we looked down anyone who enjoyed different music. Most of us outgrew such childishness -- Rosenbaum evidently has not.
