There's a Seinfeld episode in which Jerry has a girlfriend so beautiful she skates through life - always gets out of traffic tickets, always gets waht she wants. In describing her to George, Seinfeld compares her to Godzilla. George replies - Yeah and I'm a thousand fleeing Japanese. Mr. Shapiro will never come up with a line like that. It's brilliant on so many levels - it is consistent with the pop/trash nature of Seinfeld's obsessions, it's a twisted metaphor that operates as entirely character appropriate while taking a fairly mundane subject into the realms of sci-fi fantasy and is, ultimately, entirely nonsensical. Of course it's Larry David and it's delivered by Jason Alexander, but that's the real skill Seinfeld has - get the best. I rant in Shapiro's style every day, it's as easy as pie. I'm angry and I didn't even have to sell my ass for drugs and I know a hundred people funnier than Shapiro.
