the "I'm an illegal alien" card
by SlaterBait

Let me get this straight...

The New York government is going to issue 3 classes of driver licenses, two for citizens and another for aliens. But to get the alien card, you have to present a valid PASSPORT from your home country!

There is only ONE way to validate a passport: inspect the Visa stamp whereby a U.S. Embassy official in the alien's foreign country authorizes entry into this country and specifies the terms of entry (date of entry and type of entry).

Betcha never realized what a Visa was invented for, did ya?

Illegal aliens, those who overstay their visa or enter without one, will be documenting this fact when they go to get their license!!! ...so they simply won't apply!

They just CANNOT be so stupid as to apply for an "I'm an illegal alien" card! What good would that do?

I must not understand something about this...

Could it be that New York will NOT validate the passport?

Certainly they are not interested in seeing a passport they will not bother to validate, so that does NOT make sense.

Could it be that New York will issue a drivers license for a period of time LONGER than that authorized by the Visa? ...or worse, accept an expired visa?

This would be incompetence even beyond the worse to be expected from a New York bureaucrat!

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but it appears that New York is proceeding to implement the registration of illegal aliens!

There is no reason for illegal aliens to self-identify themselves unless they are going to be rewarded for doing so, e.g. by a promise of future citizenship (or at least certification of how long they have been living illegally in this country.)

But isn't this precisely the part of Bush's "comprehensive" immigration plan that the voters hated the most? ...i.e. awarding illegal aliens with some form of limited amnesty?

So Govenor Spitzer, after seeing Bush's "comprehensive" plan for handling illegal aliens go down in flames in congress, heavily rejected by the citizens who elected Bush AND the Democratic congress, decides to implement the plan on his own inititive?

Maybe it doesn't matter that we let unlimited numbers of non-citizens in and allow them to vote. The vote doesn't mean any D*** thing if the D*** politicians will not listen to the voters ANYWAY!

"So Govenor Spitzer, after seeing Bush's "comprehensive" plan for handling illegal aliens go down in flames in congress, heavily rejected by the citizens who elected Bush AND the Democratic congress, decides to implement the plan on his own inititive?"

Most polls actually indicated that most americans agreed with the idea of erned citizenship.Bush's plan was largely defeated because of a well organized, very vocal minority. The plight of immigrants is not as important to voters as other issues(healthcare, education etc) hence their indiffence to it's passing.

The Bush immigration plan,to me,is the only thing in his entire 7 yr tenure that made sense. But even when he ammended it to include $4bn for securing our southern border it was still rejected. This suggested to me that the oppsition to his plan was motivated by more than just issues of legallity and security but also just as much by xenophobia and racism. If these immigrants were mostly blonde haired and blue eyed and spoke Swedish,we wouldn't be having this conversation.

Driver's licenses for ee-leegals, make good practical sense.
by fairlane

They enter those who choose to apply for them, into our state's legal data bases. They offer up the opportunity for those who choose to do so, to buy auto insurance. They make it possible for ee-leegals to open bank accounts and apply for credit, so's they can spend their "ill-gotten" gains in the U.S., on U.S. made/sold goods. They offer the possibility of ee-leegals bearing more of their U.S. tax burden than they might otherwise.

Yet......the incredibly simple, aren't concerned with the practicalities. To them, it doesn't "feel good" to extend this bit of guvmint control to ee-leegals. Frankly, I wouldn't really give a shit if this moronic, simple-minded, "feel good" view were limited to the red-simple. But...it's more than a little embarrassing, to see presumptive Democrats choosing to wallow in this mire.

Federal Immigration Law. Therefore, New York is engaged in a criminal conspiracy directed against the people of the United States of America…

Current federal law 8USC 1373(a) prohibits sanctuary: “Notwithstanding any other provision of federal, state, or local law, a federal, state, or local government entity or official may not prohibit, or in any way restrict any government entity or official from sending to, or receiving from, the Immigration and Naturalization Service information regarding the citizenship or immigration status, lawful or unlawful, of any individual.”

Article 1, Sec 8, Clause 4. of the US Constitution: The Congress shall have Power *** To establish an uniform Rule of Naturalization…

Congress’ power over naturalization is an exclusive power. A State Cannnot denationalize a foreign subject who has not complied with federal naturalization laws and constitute him a citizen of the Untied States. Or of the State, so as to deprive the federal courts of jurisdiction over controversy between him and a citizen of a State. — SCOTUS (1817)

The power of Congress “to exclude aliens from the United States and to prescribe the terms and conditions on which they come in” is absolute, being an attribute of the United States as a sovereign nation. In the words of the Court: “That the government of the United States, through the action of the legislative department, can exclude aliens from its territory is a proposition which we do not think open to controversy. Jurisdiction over its own territory to that extent is an incident of every independent nation. It is a part of its independence. If it could not exclude aliens, it would be to that extent subject to the control of another power. *** The United States, in their relation to foreign countries and their subjects or citizens are one nation, invested with powers which belong to independent nations, the exercise of which can be invoked for the maintenance of its absolute independence and security throughout its entire territory. — SCOTUS (1889)

Alien Registration Act of 1940: This Act, taken in conjunction with other laws regulating immigration and naturalization, has constituted a comprehensive and uniform system for the regulation of all aliens and precludes enforcement of a State registration act. — SCOTUS

Spotzer should be arrested for sedition and failure to uphod the Constitutional Laws of these United States.

80 to 95% of Americans oppose illegal immigration and want illegal aliens arrested & deported.

Oklahoma is the state with the law abiding lawmakers that listen to the will of the people... NY is a state of law breaker law makers that defy the will of the people.

'Do nothing' for illegals. Let them live in 'shadows'
by WATCHOUT
until the borders and our 'immigration' problems are fully solved to the letter of the law and all REPs and DEMs who have participated in the this illegal alien fiasco foisted on the US citizen VOTED OUT OF OFFICE en masse.
