I actually signed up to sound off on this subject. Pot will ruin your life! Not because it is dangerous, addictive or even particularly bad for you. As bad as inhaling any other partially combusted organic compound. It will ruin your life because if you get caught with even a small amount you can suffer severe legal penalties. You will have a criminal record (i.e. jail). If you have enough of it you will go to prison for a minimum sentence. You will never get any financial aid for college, ever again! You can have all of your assets seized by the government and sold to the highest bidder. You will have trouble getting a good job because of your criminal record and possibly never attending college like you had intended. Not because you failed too many classes, didn't want to go, didn't have a good SAT/ACT score or good high school grades but simply because you could not afford it. Talk about a child left behind simply because they got caught with a joint or a personal use bag, usually enough to get you a healthy jail or prison sentence. Most people I have known who smoke pot are outstanding citizens. They are educated, hard working, friendly people. Yet every day they risk their future because our government and some people have an inappropriate amount of control. How much damage do we have to do to ourselves before we stop? We have more people in jail/prison per capita than any other country, many for minor, non-violent drug offenses. Again, how long will we the people tolerate this?

Move to California... get diagnosed with "insomnia".... get a pile of prescription papers..... don't carry more than an ounce, and you're perfectly legal - not even an employer will be able to bust you.

Plus, if you use marijuana in moderation, you can take time off (precautions) to pass any drug test, with or without the legal papers.

ex weed smoker here... alot of that stuff is true like you said ... but weed cases... judges tend to let those slide... all depends on how much you got on you... if your a smoker the most on average you gon have on you is about a quarter ... if your a seller .... well your prolly gonna have any where from a quarter to pounds of it. weed is so well known and regular that most cops just confiscate it and let you go on about your business. unless they just feel like arresting you for that little blunt you got. but gettin high i had some good times back then... i maintained a 3.4 grade point average ... managed to get all of my credits early and dropping a few classes because i didnt need them. and i have made some of the best music when i was high... and some of the best drawings. and as far as over poulated jails... more than half of the prison inmates are white, then there is blacks and then latinos. majority of the people are in prison around my state is locked up for child support. they might was well make vagina incriminating

Perhaps I should clarify, smoking pot will not ruin your life but getting caught with it might. I have smoked pot. I got excellent grades. I have a steady job. I never got caught. I just don't smoke anymore. I could care less about whether or not someone smokes pot. I care more about whether or not they are a good person. The head line is just a trick to get your attention.

I've been smoking weed for thirty eight years and there';s nothing like it. I get in to everything I do and that goes for work also. It should be legalized. God put it here on earth, so I don't see how we can get busted for it. There are states that will bust you in a heartbeat and others who are more less to throw you in jail. I also smoke for pain cause it helps. I wish I could get a prescription for it, but I don't know any doctors who would do that. Here in the state of Washington, it's even hard to find. Everyone's not out in the open about it. I'll keep looking for it though. I love getting stoned. Thanks for listening.

simple solution, if the correct actions were taken pot would no be illegial and thereby no ones life would be ruined by laws. Few people seem to understand that when the damage posed by laws exceed the danger of the questioned offence is the law realy doing any good. Marijuana still remains the most widely used illegial substance despite the laws and media discouragement. All in all the laws dont work and in many states there are decriminalised laws. Where I used to live there was only a possible $200 fine, no record, no jail time. SO, dont spout how pot will ruin your life when you can always make changes to you life to avoid such actions (like moving to a state thats more pot friendly if you're truly passionate about it). You can always vote for candidates that are wise enough to make a good decsion for one ro write letters to those already taking up space in washington. If we tolerate the harsh laws put in place by our justice system its only going to be a matter of time before they start to pass more laws like the patriot act that will further erode our rights and we will be so far gone there will be nothing that can be done to fix it. Dont tolerate opression, stand against it, its your American duty and right to free speach, and its the duty of the leaders to do what the people want. If we all up and quit than they win, not us... grow a backbone.
