Perhaps not genetics, maybe epigenetics?
by thurmanmurman
All obvious comparisons to the recently disgraced Prof. Watson aside, his mistakes may be the same mistakes presented here. One can look up on Wikipedia and see that as the study population increases, the IQ gap decreases. So, again, the variance in the population is large in comparison to the difference between populations. This population of European Jews has been noted to produce thinkers and perhaps it owes something to the value the culture places on education. It was perhaps a notch or two higher in priority than for my gentile forebears. It suggests to me not genetics, however, but epigenetics - the affect on phenotype by turning on or off genes. It has been reported recently that life spans of children whose grandparents lived through famine are significantly shorter than that of the general population. It could very well be that the observed IQ differences follow this sort of path as well. As much as the aesthetics of the author's assertion sound a bit like German tanks starting up to me, I think it is a good question. You may not discover what you thought you were going to find, but you will be wiser for the inquiry.
epigenetics, eh?
by deduction

do you have a link to this report about the grandchildren of famine victims? it seems odd that their life expectancy should be shorter considering that now they are saying that if we eat less, there's a good chance we live longer. perhaps the two have nothing to do with one another, but that's why i'd be interested in seeing the report...

Yeah, if we eat less we live longer, but our children live shorter, life's a beech aint it. Well epignetics (which has discovered that some characteristics are passed on in RNA ,which acts like the software to DNA's hardware, and is affected by environmental factors during the parent's lifetime), yes epigenetics suggests that if we let those blacks hang around the white educational trough long enough they might even become as smart as the whites, someday! Can't let that happen, can we. Can we? Why not?

Wow! Sounds like that Jesus knew his science talking about the third and fourth generations.

Wait a minute! Equal education was just yesterday! An I hear them trying to undo that too. Those first wave of children are only forty years old, so their children aint even graduate from college yet. Looks like dose blacks have a long row to hoe befoe dem becomes equal in all respects, po tings.

You mean the Federal Government of the USA let that happen to those poor people, for all those years! Maybe they can pay reparations in $5000 educational bonds. $5000 dollars at 8% compounding daily for 18 years and payable only to an educational institution, that would go a long way to setting things right, could even pay back the government the $5000, so it wouldn't cost nutting. Meanwhile the bank holding the cash, would be lending it out for eighteen years at credit card rates, you know up 18 to 20%, so maybe they could pay back the government the $5000. So it's not the cost, is it? Just the willingness to do the right thing. You know, teach a man how to fish! Oh dear, they stop that too! Like they don't really believe in equal opportunity, for real. My goodness!

Well, You know what Mae West said about her wealth, of diamonds. "Goodness, my dear, had nothing to do with it!" Looks like she was right.
