What Gore Doesn't Have to Know
by brerlou

Gore, of course, doesn't have to understand much about the dynamics of global warming to make the kind of contribution for which he received the Nobel Prize. What he did was to give the problem a global voice with which to overcome the inertia of American ignorance. Americans are becoming increasingly unable to make relevant demands on their leadership because they are being starved of information by the pundits. We are being misdirected as to the real issue which is destined to spin off problems for most of the people alive today, (under thirty perhaps) not 400 years from today. If a man will die once his fever reaches 107 degrees, chances are he will be dead long before his average body temperature reaches 102 in any 24 hour period. We are being misdirected as to the real issue however, which is NOT, I repeat NOT, the cause of global warming. The pragmatic issue is, given the undeniable existence of a problem, is there anything at all that mankind can do to solve or even mitigate its effects, in the short or even the long term. This is the immediate problem, NOW! and that's why Gore was given his prize, as a whistle-blower.

The cause of global warming is very important. You have to know what is causing a problem before you can attempt to solve it.
