More links please!
by haulinsacs

An example:

"Somewhere between 2 percent and 5 percent of the nation's eaters classify themselves as vegetarians; of that number, perhaps 5 percent are strict vegans."

While I don't doubt the truth of this quote, and have no reason to believe it was simply made up, it puzzles me:

1. This isn't exactly common knowledge, is it?

2. Since the author must have done some research to know such a fact, why not provide a link to the source in the article?

Of course I realize that any article can become cluttered with links and therefore aesthetically displeasing and so forth, but then again it wouldn't be the first time such a thing was done in Slate.

If as little as 2% of the US population considers themselves vegetarian, .05% Vegan, judging from the postings, everyone one of them must read Slate.
