Goracle denied

First to address the Slate piece. The followers of Gore are outraged, yet the article says literally nothing. Its rather pathetic and goes on and on yet has no substance

If you were a new born soul and wanted to plant corn in Alaska in the year 2300? WHAT?

Its practically incoherent.

So here is SOMETHING COHERENT.

Climate change is a given. Its slowly, and I emphasize SLOWLY getting warmer. It has done so for the last 10,000 years.

Ocean levels have risen a whopping 300 feet since the peak of the last ice age. None of that climate change had anything to do with human activity. NONE.

So lets establish the following.

1. Earth warming

2. Nothing we can do about it.

3. Generally its a good thing so far. The benefits FAR outweigh the downside. If nothing else, 100,000 people a year are saved from cold climate related deaths, far more than die of heat related deaths.

So, WHY has Gore and an army of radical berserk whackos taken up this cause, like Laurie David and Leo Decaprio?

Here is WHY. Because the model of socialism HAS not worked for the last 200 years. The US model of capitalism has spread as far as China. There appears to be NO end in sight.

Given that the principles of socialism are incompatable with capitalism and industrialization, and those principles are NOT currently in favor, the ONLY way to SELL those principles are to disguise them under the veil of stopping climate change.

Then you get to deindustrialize the world, move away from capitalism and the use of fossil fuels, and plant the seeds of the trees of socialism that would not otherwise grow.

THAT IS WHAT IS REALLY GOING ON HERE. THERE ARE FAR GREATER THREATS TO MANKIND THAN CLIMATE CHANGE. So why are they being ignored yet climate change is the hottest topic up for debate, forgive the pun.

Think carefully about this and you will see that I am right. The only thing that comforts me is that Gore will not or cannot run for president as Hillary despises him so and would damage him irrevocably were he to run now, he will wait and try and run in 2012 or 2016.

Gore is the most dangerous man in America, and I am not exaggerating.

Could not agree more. As a science teacher, among other things, I find it hysterically frightening just how simple minded and ignorant people really are about this subject. All many people I have talked to (if you can call getting called every name in the book "talking") can do is spout off recitations of the most recent news report they've read.

Apparently everyone believes the news outlets, Gore and Hollywood in that every scientist on the planet is on board with their agenda - which is exactly what it is. Over half of the scientists in the world repudiate the "man-made" global warming notion, but we don't want to talk about those. The sensationalists who are on board with the political arm of the world unification movement are happy to chime in and deride their more skeptical counterparts as being patsies of big business, big oil and economic-democratic machinery. Let us not forget it is this same cadre of ranting "experts" that declared Canada and a good portion of the US would be consumed with a massive glacial ice age during the 80's. This is an absolute affront to those who refuse to drink the Kool-Aid, as it were, and recognize the patterns and trends of earth as recorded by earth's own catalog of historical records.

Warming and cooling trends of the earth are as cyclical as the path it follows as it revolves around the sun. They vary just as the actual orbit varies across thousands of years. That we are in a warming trend is not a matter of debate. That it is something we have caused and not part of the earth's natural cycling that will, at some point in the future yet unknown, begin to swing back the other way is the "inconvenient truth" that Gore and his followers choose to blindly ignore.

Oh my. How have you managed to be so insightful...? You've foiled us. "Global warming" is actually an elaborate socialist scheme to undermine that most righteous system: the capitalist free market. We had to buy out the entire scientific community to perpetrate this plot, and now it's all for naught.

Go back to 1950. The rest of us have moved on.

Yes, Gore is SO dangerous (to those wise Dubya followers such as tall blond women with adam's apples), but let's trace back when this horrible eggregeousness of the liberals really began. Before the so-called ecology movement, they rigged up that moon landing in a TV studio somewhere. Before that, it was that whole scam Columbus pulled on the Spanish and Portugese--pretending that there was a "science" which disproved what everyone could plainly see: that the earth was flat. But, maybe even before that, some terrible liberal somewhere invented books which they, er, proceeded to read. Then, they pretended that made them educated...reading rather than just by instinct, knowing truthiness. You are so right to condemn the dangerousness of Gore, but please remember this all started with books and learning. !

p.s. check out the new Merle Haggard songs, "America First" and "HIllary". You right wing nuts are sunk. You KNOW that, don't you?

No, global warming is a fact of earth's natural cycles that have been seized upon by those who need a "bulletproof" vehicle with which to promote an agenda. Unfortunately not everyone is given over to the leadings of large farm animals and, thus, we receive the kind of name-calling, sarcastic rhetorcial attacks delivered by those who no nothing more than what they read in a newspaper, see on a TV report or hear from sudden experts out of Hollywood and DC. Scientific evidence, beyond the narrow view of the aforementioned, is truly out there - yes, extending far beyond the borders of the U.S. - and paints a most disparaging picture of the sensationalist science behind items such as Gore's film.

People please tell me our world is not run only on the information you are spoon-fed by ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, MSN, FOX, MSNBC, etc., etc., etc. Tell me you have read the project run by a group of European scientists from several countries that spanned ten years looking back several thousand years. Using the earth's own records as found in the mountain rock layers and ancient tree rings across their countries they studied the viability of the phenomenon known as "man-made" global warming as it pertained to affecting the snowfall and snowpack. It is one of a multitude of studies that conclude that man and industrialization has little, if any, impact on the earth's cycles. Man is but a speck on the shore when it comes to affecting global change - short of using nuclear arsenals to eradicate enemies, which opens a whole new can of worms.

Funny how we can acknowledge the occurrence of ice ages past, but cannot seem to fathom or admit that there must also be an opposite cycle of warming that reaches the same extremes. Those occurred without our "help" and will continue to do so. Fossil records show such extremes long before our relatively infantile industrialization appeared on the scene. Some of you need to get over the notion that we are such a great force we can effect such massive, far-reaching changes to this planet. The discussions, if you can call them that, are good for pushing forward modern technology that can exponentially decrease pollutants to air, water and ground; that is a positive if nothing else can be found.

A science teacher, among other things. I see. You might want to go to some of the good science sites that are availabe (RealClimate.org, for example) to update your facts. Where did you get the fifty percent figure from? Beethoven, when he heard a weak opera by a contemporary, said, "I liked your opera. I think I'll set it to music". Don't pretend science if you aren't even aware of what is going on in the field.

I had teachers like that in rural Oklahoma and Texas. Made me hate school. BUT, there's always a chance that anyone can learn. Check out Merle Haggard's new songs "America First" ('let's get out of Iraq and get back on track") and "Hillary" (his non-joke endorsement). If Merle can do it, so can you, Science teacher. There are companies now who specialize in helping people who don't like to read enjoy reading.
