Why Clooney's Movie Has Weak Opening
by fensterlips

I think we tend to gravitate towards the simple (simplistic) answers, but I suspect all the items come into play.

The more mature audience is more sophisticated and slower to run out and spend $50 at a theater - they want the fare they want and encouragement from trusting sources - sometimes that might be reviewers and columnists.

I think Clooney and Hollywood in general has been hard at work on weaving messages into their work. Think Rendition, Syriana to name a couple.

In addition George Clooney has been vocal and some say pugnacious and inaccurate in his political views. This can't possibly be helpful when someone disliking the views or approaches looks at his wallet and contemplates giving George some of his money.

I know I've thought this.
