Why so many bigots?
by Nanotech
+1/-4 Reply

noun. 1. A prejudiced person who is intolerant of any opinions differing from his own.

There is no doubt that this board is swarming with anti-Christian bigots. Just look around a bit, Christian after Christian have come to this board with the intention of answering the questions concerning Christianity which are raised here. Over and over again they explain in the attempt of promoting understanding and over and over again they are called stupid and dishonest by those who seemingly hate Christianity and/or Christians.

You would think that a board named "Faith-Based" would be occupied by people who are interested in FAITH, but that is not the case here. It seems that there are 10 bigots for every Christian here. Still the Christians come in their attempt to give Biblically based answers, only to be insulted over and over again. Regardless of how many posts they answer or how detailed their explanation or how many Christians give the same or similar explanations the bigots replies are the same.

It is obvious from the replies that are posted here that many of the bigots who post are politically motivated while others just enjoy exercising their bigotry on the last group in America which is not protected by Political Correctness, the Christians.

>>It seems to me the only time Christians posting here are called either ‘stupid’ or ‘dishonest’ is when they post something that actually is stupid or actually displays dishonesty.

More commonly, they’re given the benefit of the doubt and are assumed to be unaware that they’ve presented an argument that lacks validity or made claims that aren’t true. (For example, no matter how many times examples of transitional fossils are provided to JV-12 he continues to claim that transitional fossils don’t exist, but people don’t generally respond “You lying bastard!”: instead they again provide the evidence he’s ignoring.)

“You would think that a board named "Faith-Based" would be occupied by people who are interested in FAITH, but that is not the case here.”

>>What’s the basis for that conclusion? Surely you’re not simply presuming that anyone who doesn’t embrace a Christian faith is by definition without faith or uninterested in faith…are you?

“It seems that there are 10 bigots for every Christian here.”

>>Again-you seem to be suggesting that only Christians can be possessed of faith, and that isn’t true. You seem to be suggesting that anyone who finds fault with Christianity or questions the validity of Christian articles of faith is exhibiting bigotry—that also ins’t true. And you seem to be suggesting tha Christians can’t be bigots, which clearly isn’t true—just read a typical predicto/doggydevil post if you doubt this.

“Still the Christians come in their attempt to give Biblically based answers, only to be insulted over and over again. Regardless of how many posts they answer or how detailed their explanation or how many Christians give the same or similar explanations the bigots replies are the same.”

>>What exactly constitutes a ‘bigoted’ reply? Would you interpret the simple rejection of biblically derived answers as an example of bigotry, because the respondent rejects the premise that the bible possesses some inherent authority?

“It is obvious from the replies that are posted here that many of the bigots who post are politically motivated while others just enjoy exercising their bigotry on the last group in America which is not protected by Political Correctness, the Christians.”

>>How are Christians any less ‘protected’ by political correctness than anyone else?

.....if I disagree with someone who characterizes all homosexuals as sexual degenerates who should be killed, at which time they will begin their eternity in Hellfire,

...or with someone who claims that all Muslims are terrorists set to eradicate Christianity,

...or who thinks that 3rd world immigrants are scum who should be shot down with automatic rifle fire by the children of our good Christian regulars here,

...who maintain that those with European ancestry are far superior to those from other stock.....

That makes ME the bigot?

Riiiiight!

Yea. Can't we all just get along? ROFLMAO!

Why do you bother to post this "up is actually down" bullshit? Who is your intended audience? Because those of us reading this crap come here with great frequency and we're not blind or insane. So whom do you expect to sway? There's got to be a better way to waste your time.

Up is down

Tony,

It's for the casual viewers of the forum who don't actually participate in the discussion who wouldn't see the bs day in day out. And through sheer repetition my guess is that there is hope the 'labels' will stick since he has difficulty during actual discussion and debate.

I wonder, in a vague sort of way, if the label you apply is done so to people who simply do not agree with the Christians you are attempting to defend.

It is one thing to discuss something with BC and another to do so with Dd. The former will repsect various opinions expressed in a respectful way. The latter takes delight in telling, with detail, how he will see anyone opposing him suffer.

So if it is bigoted to wish that someone who wishes me harm not be tolerated then I am glad to be a bigot. And if you mean simply disagreeing with someone else's beliefs because I have my own, then again, bigot I am. But to BC I repsect his insight and to Dd I hope to never cross his path.

I never said they couldn't believe as they do, I just don't and don't wish to be told I will die by their hands for it.

No, Nanotech. Not "anti-Christian" bigots. Anti-"Christer" bigots. Yes. Get it right.

When you stop throwing your faith around like a chip on your shoulder, then we can be great friends. My very best friend--a guy I've known for 30 years, and I'm only 34--is a devout Christian and a deacon in his church.

I know a Christian when I see one. I know my buddy would never post some of the crap you post, though.

by saying bigots, do you mean
by dumb_blonde

the ones that condmend homosexuality?

the ones that say it is the parents fault that their kids were molested?

the ones that say bi-racial couples are sinning?

the ones that say their only beliefs are right & every other belief is wrong?

The ones crying bigotry when someone else disagrees with them?

Who's the bigot?

"noun. 1. A prejudiced person who is intolerant of any opinions differing from his own."

I've never claimed that there is only one way into heaven, and that all others are wrong. Have you?

It's better keep silent and be thought a fool, then to post your ridiculous comments and remove all doubt!

Isn't it amazing to watch the minds of bigots in action as they try to justify their bigotry. It's easy to used generalizations to support what you believe, the if one is guilty then all are guilty approach. They condemn ALL Catholics because of a hand full of priest. When a Christian says "love the sinner while hating the sin" while making what the Bible says plain and simple on several subjects, they are called liars. I've seen many homosexuals welcomed in our little local Churches only to leave of their own volition once a sermon preached from the Bible reveals GOD's words on the matter.Over and over again false allegations are made by the bigots in order to justify their hatred in their own minds.

Below is a link containing post with many false accusations against me as a Christian as the bigots attempt to justify them selfs.

Remember the generalizations I mentioned? This link leads to a prime example how a statement by one person is attributed to all others who share a specific belief.

Re: Why so many bigots?

Nano, the interpertation of your beliefs in that regard, based on your comment, seem quite logical to me. Perhaps rather than claim bigotry, you could have explained what we got wrong in respect to your belief.

There are a couple of anti-Catholics here, but the heated discussion recently on the priest sex abuse issue was virtually all directed at really stupid defences of the Church by San, and few were directed at the Church as a whole. More than a few of those who posted such comments identified themselves as Catholic themselves.

Re: Why so many bigots?...PS
by Th Paine

Nano, that second link very specifically used the term "Christer" rather than "Christian" and I think most of us were quite clear that we did not attrubute her statement to Christians as a whole.

As you may recall, I agreed with your post that Ann mostly spoke for herself.

well, then, nano, I guess this is a good time to ask yourself what would Jesus do

I know he would not cry & snizzel like a baby like you seem to do.

but before you cry bigotry, you really need to honestly face your own bigotry.
