Great article. Just thought I'd mention I was in Tiger Stadium (North End Zone) on the night of the USC game mentioned...the face masking penalty was no phantom. I recall it as a 4th down play, the USC QB had been flushed from the pocket...if the Tigers could've sacked him, or forced an incomplete, they would have won. But our LB, trying to get ahold of the guy, grabbed his face mask. 15 yard penalty right there, and an automatic first down. Only an incredibly biased Tiger Fan (say, that's pretty much all of us) would deny it happened. There just wasn't any question about the call. Even though it was a loss, that was certainly the best college game I've ever seen, whether live or on TV. After the game the fans started chanting "We are proud of you!" I could go on... Anyway, the Florida game certainly was a terrific game, but the fans didn't storm the field afterward (that's a good thing), and that kind of tells you how it will rate in everyone's memory 20 years from now.
