Copying from Kennedy & Clinton's Successbook
by winstonsmiththe3rd
So Senator Craig changes his mind and refuses to resign over a sex scandal. If he were representing Massachusetts there wouldn't be that much fuss. Did Senator Ed Kennedy resign or reveal all the truth about his car accident that killed a woman (in my book that's much more serious than sex in a public restroom)? Barney Frank apologized for his choice of "roommate" but not his private life which some people would find offensive (but not illegal). Both senators have very successful careers and lived down the scandal. Why should Craig be different? Perhaps he lied about planning to resign and maybe that's what some people are mad about. Boise may not be Boston but I doubt people there are any less sophisticated or more upright. If the people of Idaho want Craig out they can recall him but think how dull the water cooler talk will be then. Maybe Mrs. Craig pulls a Hillary Clinton?
You seem to forget something

You seem to forget something very crucial:

  • Republicans THEMSELVES are the ones who castigate those who's sexual preference runs in Craig's direction
  • Craig HIMSELF has publically railed against homosexulas
  • Craig HIMSELF has publically railed against "immoral behaviour"

The examples from the Democratic side you cite have not done anything like that. So what is in play here is the PERSONAL INCONSISTENCY of Craigs acts.

Frankly most voters (since Dems are the majority) wouldn't much care if Craig were openly Gay or Bisexual, or if Craig were openly involved with women outside marriage (as the likes of Clinton's impeacher in chief Henry Hyde once was).

What matters is the HYPOCRISY of GOPers like Craig and Hyde pontificating about how gays and irresponsible sex are ruining the country - all the while engaging in the same sort of behaviour. THAT's the gotcha.

Clinton, Franks and Kennedy are all three wise enough not to do that. Clearly you don't seem to understand that distinction. And I hope you keep on. Because it is precisely that sort of inability to understand the internal hypocrisy of the GOP positions that is going to send the modern GOP party onto the political trashheap it so richly deserves to be on.

Something else you forgot. To Republicans, conservatives and the like, killing someone is a forgivable offence, where being gay is not.
Not copying at all

Ted Kennedy and Barney Frank were re-elected after their scandals. Sen Craig won't run again.

Did Laura Bush reveal the truth about the car accident that killed her boyfriend? Inquiring minds want to know.

Yo, Winston, Barney Frank is not a Senator. You really don't know shit from fat meat, do you?
