If we are going to stay in Iraq.....

Lets start the draft. Let's not just revoke the tax cuts, let's increase the hell out of them to begin funding it. Let's begin to ration vital commodities, let's get the American people to wake the hell up and re take our government from this maniac and his deluded and ignorant followers. WW2, our last "justified" war was one by getting Americans to hurt, to dig deep, to sacrifice to win it. Let's get our marshmallow asses up and demanding more of our government.
Excellent point.

And since Democrats controll Congress, let's see them put that proposal on the table.

Who'll go first?

Hillary maybe?

As it stands, Iraq is a TV program. A game. We watch it play out as though it was the weather and beyond our control. It isn't. It is ours to control.
So will Hillary be introducing legislation

to re-instate the draft soon?

Shumer?

Reid?

Harkin?

Anyone?

Anyone?

If they haven't the balls to cut funding or if they are powerless to do so (lacking override for veto capability), they yes, they should do exactly that. But, the chicken hawk republicans would filibuster and finally Bush would veto, he will take no chances on the sheep awakening by any change in their lives as he seeks his oil fortune on the backs of our troops.

Bing fucking OH! This country hasn't been asked to sacrifice squat for Iraq or Afghanistan. Bush knew what he's doing. Tax cuts and put the burden of fighting on a small percentage of the population. Keeps the majority quiet because WOT isn't costing them a thing.

I've said the same before, start a draft today, tomorrow the country wakes up and takes action to end the war. Raise taxes to pay for it, you gotta revolution.

Take that back, we have been asked to sacrifice something for the war, our civil rights.

Go volunteer. I say we take the hundreds of billions being spent on mercenaries and renumerate our military proper. They'll be no shortage of recruits given corporate America's obsession with outsourcing and cheap slave labor.
I thought you were against the draft?

.
As you know, I have opposed this war since day one.

But what you're saying is, that despite principles, not one Dem will do the right thing because the Repubs will just squash it anyway?

Nice group of reps ya got there.

Slick! I DID volunteer. I served. Now at 51and with a triple bi-pass they don't want me. I also don't think a single other American should be there. THAT is my point.

You started right off wrong on two counts. One, you said "I thought" (you don't) and two, I have never been against a necessary draft for a just war.

Draft is involuntary servitude, so I'ld rather just impose a "Slacker Tax," 10% of anyone's gross earnings who lack an Honorable Discharge from the US military.
