What about Japan and India?
by Adamatari

As much as I agree that Burma/Myanmar's government is nasty, I think it's important to note that China is far from alone in propping up this regime. India and Japan also have put significant money into Myanmar. Though Japan has been cutting aid in recent times, it's still there.

It's very easy to complain about China's support for these countries because China itself has a not-so-nice government. However, blame should also go to free governments that support these regimes.

perhaps even more so.

Not sure about Japan, but India's support is kind of lukewarm and guided mostly by defense concerns. India simply cannot afford to leave its north-east states unguarded to Chinese advances. China has set up bases (or helped Burmese Junta to set up bases) in Burma. Under these circumstances and given the fact that (a) India has fought war with China or border claims before and (b) China has a dictatorial regime (like Burma) and (c) India is a growing power both economically and (geo) politically - it is only natural that India will try to seek some kind of relationship with the Junta - as horrible and inhuman they may be. In diplomacy - everything is not always ideal or fair - sometimes you have to hold your nose and live with stench.
