Oh for God's sake! "At most"? The nooses were not merely a threat of violence. They were a clear warning to all black students that any attempt to exercise their rights would be met with violence. That is a very serious act in a Democracy. What if Democrats told Republicans they would be beaten if they attended a pro life rally? Wouldn't we consider that an oppression of free speach and political demonstration?

Number of black kids hanged: 0.

Number of white kids gang beaten: 1.

Sure seems like those nooses did nothing.

From what I read, after the incident the black kids still were not allowed to sit under that tree. Apparently the nooses DID do something. They had the exact effect that the racist students intended. The tree was eventually cut down but I'm sure that the message is still there....don't try to go where the white kids don't want you.

If I had heard the principle and superintendant were seen tying those nooses I would be appalled and would agree racism was a problem there. You did go to high school right? It wasn't a GED or private school? Just checking in case you'd forgotten the 12 years of public school where behavior like this was rampant because amazingly enough there were kids attending those classes.

Your the one who needs to get the facts straight. The gun incident occured because the white kid stopped at a store in a neighborhood with a majority black population and was accosted by the 3 black youths upon leaving said store. He attempted to retrieve a shotgun from his truck but the 3 black kids managed to get it away from him as he exited the truck.

Question for you elshabazz7; If I attempted to kill someone by shooting them with a gun but missed, am I guilty of attempted murder? By your logic since my target was not harmed, no crime occured.
