Israelis seized nuclear material in Syrian raid
by Martial

Israeli commandos seized nuclear material of North Korean origin during a daring raid on a secret military site in Syria before Israel bombed it this month, according to informed sources in Washington and Jerusalem.

The attack was launched with American approval on September 6 after Washington was shown evidence the material was nuclear related, the well-placed sources say.

They confirmed that samples taken from Syria for testing had been identified as North Korean. This raised fears that Syria might have joined North Korea and Iran in seeking to acquire nuclear weapons.

Israeli special forces had been gathering intelligence for several months in Syria, according to Israeli sources. They located the nuclear material at a compound near Dayr az-Zwar in the north.

Evidence that North Korean personnel were at the site is said to have been shared with President George W Bush over the summer. A senior American source said the administration sought proof of nuclear-related activities before giving the attack its blessing.

Diplomats in North Korea and China believe a number of North Koreans were killed in the strike, based on reports reaching Asian governments about conversations between Chinese and North Korean officials.

Syrian officials flew to Pyongyang, the North Korean capital, last week, reinforcing the view that the two nations were coordinating their response.

How many times are you going to play village idiot on this forum Martial?

This story is so full of holes, it's almost comical. Any evidence that the nuclear related material has anything to do with nuclear weapons, nuclear proliferation or even DU rounds?

So what is this material that was seized? When are we going to see it?

You are proof that you can fool some of the people most of the time.

We look at your name and don't bother to inform you. It indicates that your overall view of things: "My mind is pre-made up".

On the contrary, unlike you I am not searching under every rock for a reason to start a war.

FYI. I have a background in nuclear science and engineering, so come back to me if and when you decide to be educated.

How quickly these stories fall apart?

One can almost get bored of being able to predict spin and propaganda. What a pitty neither of you two have learned this basic skill.

Israel did not strike a nuclear weapons facility in Syria on Sept. 6, instead striking a cache of North Korean missiles, current and former intelligence officials say.

Having intelligence in regards to nuclear know-how (good for you) is not the same as having information intelligence regarding who's selling to whom. They're separate. So ask your questions, but this automatic-lie approach ruins reasonable debate.

Fair point, but running around like chicken little every time the word "nuclear" is used tends to cloud the facts or context more often than not.

As for "information intelligence" there is a difference between facts and spin. What evidence has Israel produced?

Well ask them what evidence they have. Don't just write it off the second you see them say something. It makes you look like a dick who's never going to accept any kind of evidence even when it is presented and people stop listening to you altogether.
