The "16th-Minute Law".
by Mister Write

We need a new capital offense category in this country: seeking a second helping of your fifteen minutes of fame.

O.J. is not dumb. He knew he'd be recognized, arrested, and tried in another televised blowout. All Simpson really had to do to get his stolen memorabilia back was place a call to Johnny Cochran and let the eagles do their thing.

D'ja see the smile on his face as he appeared before cameras immediately afterward? Ear-to-ear grin, because he knew book sales would skyrocket.

So we make "undue exercise of the press in a criminal matter" a felony, punishable by imprisonment (for has-beens and reality-show contestants) or death (for real celebs, who cannot reliably be jailed). Fines, no longer an issue for anyone who really matters, are worthless.

If the American press cannot help itself, maybe U.S. jurisprudence can.

Call it the "16th- Minute Law." Or "Nicole Brown's Law." And put a stop to celebrity manipulation of public forums.

That might be a tough trick -- Johnnie Cochran died of a brain tumor in 2005!

Ya well, I have been accused of living in the past sometimes.

Rock on VAdame, keep on keeping us honest.
