routine signing is part of the problem
by Archae86

Certainly the parents were warned by that document, but the efficacy of the warning was cut back by a social problem.

We are called on to sign long documents without reading them so frequently these days that the few who insist on actually reading them are made to feel they are real odd-balls. (I have two young adult daughters in this tiny sub-group).

I'm not implying that the network folks hustled these parents to sign without reading or thinking, but just living in the USA, they've gotten extensive conditioning.

Did you read everything in the last software EULA you agreed to? Did you even read everything in your most recent credit or mortgage agreement? How about the sheet regarding medical records at your doctor's office?

Thought not. Neither did I.

Actually, I do read the fine print, footnotes, and attachments but that's the only way I can tell if a document is HOT. I read 'em so you don't have to!
