YOU READ THAT RIGHT. This new bill, being voted on TODAY, eliminates the current document verification to demonstrate that you are entitled to accept the benefits of the program. In almost every state, virtually all of the illegal immigrants have Social Security numbers. In fact, they have a LOT of Social Security numbers! So even if they were checked through the system, which this bill does not require, you would NOT catch them. All they have to do is to say: “Here is a Social Security number. Now let me avail myself of the benefits.”
The Center for Immigration Studies has shown that 75 percent of illegal aliens already have phony Social Security cards, and the remaining 25 percent can obtain them for as little as $50 on the street. The Democrats’ so-called “verification” provision isn't worth the paper it is written on -- and lawmakers know it.
Remember Joe Wilson (R-SC), who yelled out “YOU LIE!” when Obama claimed illegals wouldn’t be covered? Well, Rep. Wilson along with Reps. Dean Heller (R-NV) and Nathan Deal (R-GA) are introducing an amendment to the Rules committee to close this loophole. But the Democrats are blocking it.
According to the Associated Press, “Rep. Louise Slaughter (D-NY) indicated that the House will have to vote on a bill that allows illegal aliens to use the new health care ‘exchange’ and that does not require verification to keep illegal aliens out of the other parts of the proposed new federal health care system.”
Both the Senate and House versions of health care reform only require immigrants to show a driver’s license or social security card to prove legal status. Needless to say, as long experience with only requiring employees to provide easily forged ID cards to prove their legal work status shows, this will NOT keep illegals from fraudulently acquiring healthcare.
