The notion that there is some kind of moral equivalence between the ideology of islam and the theology of Christianty or Buddhism is absurd. If you need to know more, consider just these two illustrations:
- Look at the treatment of women under sharia - both empirically, around the world, and theologically/"juristically" (e.g. lesser standing as a source of evidence...).
- Look at the approach to apostates or blasphemers between these three religions. Only one entails pronouncements of death - still noisily demanded around the world for apostates (recall the poor soul who converted to Christianity soon after the initial overthrow of the Taliban in Afghanistan?).
There's more, but maybe I am an idiot too. Perhaps you will enlighten me. But, please don't suggest that Christianity has a bad history - I've noted in these threads before, the fact that Christianity behaved in a mediaeval manner in mediaeval times does not justify tolerance for islam behaving in a mediaeval manner in modern times.
