What's in a name?
by SouthernGal

Hasan

Obama

Apparently a lot according to the right.wing.nuts. No, you cannot hide those names and what they stand for to the rabid right-wing of the Republican Conservatives. It's much easier to focus on those names than to admit to the real reasons Ft Hood happened in the first place.

If Bush had not committed an illegal war against Iraq and had he concentrated on holding the true perpetrators of 9/11responsible the Afghan war would more than likely be a done deal, but no, let's focus and blame the Muslims and Obama for everything that's wrong in the world. We wouldn't want the wingnuts to have to assume responsibility for anything they've done to cause these problems.

Ignore the man behind the curtain, really, there's no one there.

it's not the name. Hasan Nadal went off the deep end. soldiers do that. the unfortunate part is that Nadal should've been thrown out of the military years ago.

here's just a sampling of soldiers friendly-firing each other or family.

You and I know it's not the name

but for many the minute they heard Hasan's name it became all about the Muslims and no matter how much you reasoned with them they could not let go of their hate for that religion.

Sadly, thanks for those links.

I have Arabic friends
by biteoftheweek

who, every time something like this happens, say, "please don't let it be one of us"

Because they get blamed for everything that any nutjob that can be linked to the middle-east or Islam does. Unlike Christians, Jews, Hindus, Asians, or Europeans.

For example, when that Asian dude shot up Virginia Tech, no one blamed it on his being Asian.

Exactly!
