a White House that wants to control its message is scary to you?

What's really scary is how quickly Elmo would kick Sean Hannity's ass in a television debate.

Managing the news that

gets released, and even who gets it first, no problem. Managing the news by intimidation of independent contractors a big problem, in the form of a banana republic or Hugo Chavez form of exercise of political power. This type of threatening posturing is unheard of in this country.

You can honestly say that you don’t see any danger in this?

You think that's scary? I actually get Fox News up here and I've had the pleasure of watching both its so-called news and editorial programming, and the fact that it's so popular is the only thing that's scary to me. Being the liberal eletist that I am I know some dumbass, whitetrash pandering bullshit when I see it. It's really good at keeping stupid people up in alarm over nothing, and I don't see how anyone in their right mind could think that's a good thing for a society. And I can't help but believe that if one of their "journalists" let slip what all their viewers are thinking and called Obama a nigger, their viewers would all be crying out for free speech to rule the day.

I hate CNN and MSNBC for different reasons - I never saw them as being anti-Bush, nor do I seem them as being particularly pro-Obama - I find they basically don't want to stir up to much trouble for any party when it comes to politics, and instead focus on mundane non-news events (e.g. Baloon Boy) - popcorn news, I call it.

It's not really likely in my line of work, but if there was a media outlet that was notoriously hostile towards my firm, I would consider it totally within my bosses' right to demand that I not speak to them. Obviously I would still have the right to give them the finger, and lose my job for it, but hey, if you don't want people telling you what to do than you've pretty much gotta be your own boss. Otherwise you're just someone's paid slave. You've gotta serve somebody...

You want to see a form of censorship that's truly frightening? Check this out:

The liberal bias of ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, PBS, and MSNBC left a huge opening for a network with the opposite bias.

Why do liberals believe their own false stereotypes? Most FOX new watchers are hard working american taxpayers.

And most hard working American taxpayers are dumbasses - that's just the law of averages.
Oh, the irony!
by ErictheRight

One dummy calling himself a "liberal eletist"!!

Yessir, I do believe that should qualify you as the King of the Dumbassed Liberals. Top of the food chain, no doubt. Too funny.

Stay on point

Changing the subject is easy…want to talk football, American that is. Your link has to do with political action, not very pertinent to the topic. Since you brought it up however it is totally, and without question the right of the administration in power to remove any of those employees “at will.” In fact they for the most part are all removed during the first years of a new administration.

Gagging individuals that are not under permanent contract with the administration, threatening, essentially, that they won’t get additional contract work if they speak to certain media… that is in fact NOT anywhere near the same as you doing it in a private company, these people giving these oders are paid with tax dollars their actions violate basic rights of freedom of speech and freedom of the press. Both are being manipulated here.

And what about this...
by ErictheRight

"frightening"? Or do you condone this?

You going to revert back now?

Let's see, Canadians all have short man syndrome and penis envy. Sol, you are no longer a kid remember.

True, but you implied that FOX viewers were exceptionally stupid.

If not for the ability to manipulate the dumbmasses, the democrats would never have power.

Bet nobody will comment, eh?

How you doing? Jury is out as to staying on here. Sorting out who is worth posting “with” and who not… One thing is that I can't post evenings anymore. Over the last 2 years, after moving to a new, smaller, home with my office way the hell upstairs in a corner, I have started to mostly use a laptop at the bar in the kitchen... so I shut down in the evenings and have literally not ventured away from wife time in the evenings… she is a bigger baseball fan than me, got season tickets again, and watch movies, talk politics etc., and she knits baby blankets.. Grandparents in a month.

Sold half of the technology biz so am not traveling like I did..but will show up back there soon enough…

All good I hope? Family grow?

No one is trying to silence Pox Views
by ann---

And, in the article you posted it says something different from what you claim. Pox Views is lying.

David Plouffe, the president's campaign manager and author of a new campaign book, "The Audacity to Win," was scheduled to appear on Fox's "On the Record" with Greta Van Susteren Thursday night as he promotes his book. His appearance, preempted by the breaking news of the shootings at Ft. Hood, Texas, has been rescheduled for Monday.

White House Communications Director Anita Dunn said Thursday night that she had checked with colleagues who "deal with TV issues" and they had not told people to avoid Fox. On the contrary, they had urged people to appear on the network, Dunn wrote in an e-mail.

But Patrick Caddell, a Fox News contributor and a former pollster for President Carter, said he has spoken to Democratic consultants who have been told by the White House to avoid appearances on Fox.
He declined to give their names.....
