We're better served when perpetraters of such evil survive, so we can make some attempt at discerning what they were all about. And...although for sure I'm just projecting, I "feel" that if someone were to exact similar evil on one of mine, I'd WANT for them to survive, so I'd have a chance at calling them to account.

The primary point of that "IS" that what we will be seeing (Given the shooter DOES recover) is a total recanting BY the same for what "He" did.... Probably a "Mental Illness Deference" included.
