Is it true that women who use vibrators are more orgasmic...
by Pogue Mahone

....during sex with a partner than those who don't? Or is it the other way around....that the intense stimulation from the vibrator makes it more difficult to orgasm during sex with a partner?

I read something about that once but I don't remember which way it was. Or is it just that women who masturbate often, but don't necessarily use toys to help them, are more orgasmic because they are more in tune with their own vagina and know what gets them off?

Its probably true that most women who use vibrators / sex toys are comfortable with sex and sexual pleasure. Women who are comfortable with sex and sexual pleasure are more likely to orgasm.

It really has nothing to do with the item used but the comfort level of the woman.

Speaking as an "expert" from the other end, women who use a vibrator often are less likely to achieve orgasm during intercourse. It desensitizes them.

It really, really depends. If the woman using the vibrator is using it to the exclusion of other forms of masturbation between bouts of "regular" sex, it can have the same effect as a man who masturbates frequently with not enough lube/too tight of a grip - desensitization, so nothing human (hand or intercourse, or whatever) can measure up and put her over the top.

If the woman using the vibrator is using it in conjunction with other methods of arousal/orgasm and/or, only views it as a way to learn more about the different erogenous zones on her body that can be stimulated with a partner to make her enjoyment more vivid, she may be more orgasmic than a woman who knows nothing about what turns her on.

is this a poll, or just a "taxicab confession" question?

my top 10 observations, either way

10 - vibrators don't make men better in bed. honest communication with your partner makes sex better

9 - i'd rather look into my boyfriend's eyes when we make love, than stare at the ceiilng while working out with a vibrator

8 - if you get too good with a vibrator it might dull the impulse to meet a real person

7 - there is no place you can hide a vibrator that your daughter (or mother) won't find it.

6 - a vibrator only wants one thing from a girl. a real live boyfriend is usually less one dimensional

5 - bringing a vibrator to bed with your boyfriend, or allowing him to bring one along, is going to result (soon or later) in a request to do things at least one person finds uncomfortable

4 - that little fingertip thing for women, made by trojan, is a piece of crap (according to my friends -I don't' have one)

3 - guys - put your pinky in your ear. now put a power drill in there. feel the difference?

2 - they should make them dishwasher safe (just kidding)

1 - fingers are far more subtle and nuanced. its like the difference between sprinting 400 meters on a track, or walking barefoot on soft grass on a warm summer afternoon

Then again....... The vibrator will never stand you up on a Saturday night........... will never try and ditch you to go hang out at a bar with other vibrators............. doesn't care if you haven't got makeup on............ doesn't hog up all the hot water.............. never wants to know if you've ever had another vibrator............. doesn't mind sharing the bed with a cat......... won't run off with another vibrator......... can't ruin your credit.............. won't hit on your friends............ won't embarrass you in front of your relatives............... will never trash your car...................... .............. ........There must be a gadzillion more of these...

You must be quite the exhibitionist for that not to be at least a little awkward. Or maybe they're just really, really open-minded.
So you've never had a boyfriend that acted like an idiot at

#9: You could always paint a pair of cat's eyes on your ceiling?

#8: Don't say that too loudly.....that notion is making some people very angry....I think because they think if it's true somebody might try to take their vibrators away. Of course if their vibrators are that precious to them, it could be because they are so desensitized that it's the only thing that can get them off anymore......

I can think of circumstances where those two might not always be true.

I just have to know.

Is there a specific reason for people who are anti-vibrator to BE anti-vibrator? I mean, as a personal choice, sure, you can say that you don't enjoy using them, prefer to not have one in bed with you and your partner, or whatever, but there seems to be an attitude that "[vibrators] are the DEVIL!" (quick, name that movie)

I can't think of one woman that, whom I know well enough to have had this type of convo with them, who would state that toys are better than partners.

I can think of lots of reasons why a sixteen year old would rather not jump into the partnered sex world too quickly, but would want some variety in her masturbatory experiences. I don't think that there is anything inherently wrong/evil/disturbing about vibrator usage. I think that, just like everything else on the planet, there is potential for abuse (using it to the exclusion of any other form of pleasure, etc); but most people don't exist in a physical sensation only vacuum, so there will come a point that she may decide that she WANTS those things that come with a relationship, and hey, she'll want them for the reasons of wanting that bond with another person, not just for the need to get off. That could be a good thing, right?

Blech. Delete the "that" from the sentence about women that I know.

I'm not anti-vibrator...but I just have to chime in here and say that I absolutely agree, MLibbyDP. There is nothing wrong or threatening about owning or using one...sheesh.

I have a high sex drive and the occasional use of one keeps me from being frustrated when my poor, long suffering boyfriend isn't in the mood (or because we had a knockdown blowout multi-hour session and he isn't quite up to it again yet).

I do not have as good of orgasms with a vibrator; and would 100% every single time choose sex with my boyfriend.

And I'm multi-orgasmic...each and every time my boyfriend and I make love. I can't imagine that my (sometimes nightly when I was single) usage of the vibrator has affected my sensitivity in any way.

For the record, I am pro-anything that gets you off that doesn't involve a non-consentual partner. This includes teenagers using toys if they want to.

It was something with Adam Sandler and football - Waterboy?

I'll also agree with you that I just don't get this anti-vibrator stance. Personally I am one of those that can't even sit in a vibrating chair - it makes my skin crawl. But what is so wrong with a woman having an alternative for sexual pleasure? It isn't going to replace a boyfriend but it certainly fills a gap for a woman that doesn't want a boyfriend or has no good prospects around.

Really, I'd rather a teenager got a sex toy than hooked up with some idiot that was going to mistreat her. Not all boyfriends are good, folks. Giving women an alternative to a bad (or even neutral) boyfriend is a great thing.
