Dachau

I was horrified to see the protesters carrying a huge placard with a close up photo of a pile of corpses from a Nazi concentration camp. My father died in Auschwitz... I had to close my eyes each time the placard was visible on the TV broadcast.

At the risk of belaboring reality, the Nazi extermination camps had nothing to do with health care (except with Mendele's horror experiments!). They were motivated purely by racism, a racism that seems to be shared by the lilly white (all of them) protesters.

Making use of the bodies of murdered people for false political gain amounts to murdering them again....

You're so right. Its also an insult to the thousands of American vets who fought and died in battle against the real Nazis during WWII.

This actually reminds me of a quote I saw in August on TPM: To compare the efforts to extend health care to tens of millions of uninsured with a man [Hitler]who sent six million to the gas chambers is not only ludicrous, it is highly offensive and an insult to the tens of millions of people that have died in two world wars this century fighting against real "fascists."

The tactic is one that the Nazis themselves would have used. It speaks volumes about the astroturfers.
Know what the sad part about this is, kati?
by IdioticStemCell

The teabaggers actually believe that what they're supposedly suffering through under Obama is exactly what the Jews suffered through under Hitler himself. Sure, it's a mindfuck just to try and understand how insane these teabaggers really are. But eventually you'll have to deal with their existence and accept the fact that trash like them are for real and politically active in the GOP.

We are dealing with a new kind of crazy.

At least none of the righties are on this thread defending it.

I will remind you all that we've seen this distasteful tactic before....

It is an insulting tactic and both sides need to stop using it, Godwin's Law notwithstanding.

They're just a kindler gentler incarnation of the Nazis and their propaganada machine..Turning their filth inside out to blame the potential victim, victim or target of their hate into the image of what they themselves represent. Racism, Hate, Violence, Political Eugenics, Intolerence, homophobia and all the rest of it. Given power, these 'kindler gentler Nazis' would open their own ovens. Dare we imagine what they could be capable of.? The mild renor of the article is disturbing. A business as usual piece of reportage, evidently a three monkey piece: Deaf, Dumb and Blind to what was actually happening..the same deceptive gloss that enabled Hitler to rise to power. They saw and didn't see...

Huh?

Yeah they are

OldGaffer:

yeah they are. Because Bachmann herself made a similar connection in another context where she claimed that the Census was a prelude to Nissei style internment. By supporting Bachmann you are supporting that sort of thinking.

Not to nitpick, degsme, but Executive Order 9066 was issued by none other than FDR himself...
Yes, it was

Your point? The suggestion was that these days, it would more likely be Republicans who'd be putting people in camps. And I have to concur.

This from the guy who stated just the other day that Bush "Earned his comparison to Hitler"...........

Real piece of work........asshole.

Thanks for intruding
by reJoinder

....with your pathetic little cheap-shot. It's exactly what I'd expect from a worm like you.

Bush wasn't Hitler, and I've gone to some lengths to say so. His outrageous misconduct earned him a COMPARISON, not EQUIVALENCY.

Now go back to teabagging, and leave the rest of us alone.
