Doesn't anyone watch old movies?
by GuessWhoMe

Gone with the Wind: Charles Hamilton, the clumsy oaf, never had to contend with measles at Twelve Oaks, but he had to contend with it in the Confederate Army and it made Scarlett O'Hara a widow.

Queen: The diptheria going around that killed at least one person on the plantation....

You all want to go back to the good old days of pre-vaccination?

Hell, most of us wouldn't even recognize the early signs of measles, much less diphtheria.

If you tell them that, for example, a kid could go deaf because of measles or a pregnant woman could have a child with severe birth defects after getting rubella, it's news to most of them. That's a big reason a lot of anti-vax people think those diseases are "no biggie".

bingo.

the crazed mothers will say "we don't vaccinate, because we don't know what th vaccine will do"

well, we do know what measles/diptheria/rubella will do: maim and kill.

hello. remember polio? of course not. but i fear we will all become reacquainted courtesy of the anti vaccination freaks. tyhphoid mary, welcome back.

Yep, had an aunt you got polio as a kid right before the big polio vaccine push. Well, she's disabled, and has other health problems from the polio infection other than the ones you can see physically.

My dad got rubella as a kid. He's got a heart murmer that's bad enough it kept him out of highschool and college sports, and he used to be great in basketball and track (from what his sibs say).
