It's not the teabaggers that have taken over the GOP.
by jammer
As Bachmann and crew have shown us yesterday, it is the nutbags that now control the republicons. God help the USA and the world if they gain control of the government.

You're right. And these people have made the American public their pawns. They are not the least bit interested in solving our problems. They've convinced Bachmann et al. to do two things and two things only - make Americans afraid of their problems and tell them who's to blame for those problems (Obama). And thats how you win elections. You gather middle aged, middle class, middle income voters who remember with longing an easier time, and you talk to them about family, and American values and character, and you wave a photo of President Obama depicted as the Joker or Hitler and you scream about patriotism. You tell them that he's to blame for their lot in life. And then you go on tv and call him a Socialist.

Nor is it Bachman, Boehner, et.al. They are just useful idiots serving the real masters: corporate interests.

Corporate interests also have their tentacles firmly wrapped around most democrats.

Long live the Empire!

American President? Me too. Its amazing how that speech he gave can be altered for almost any debate we have today in politics (as I did). I actually think it was the best political speech from a movie, period.

Point taken, but our government has been able to do some things in the past, like break up the oil and telephone companies. We were also able to enact social security and medicare, which today would be impossible. The French were able to reign in their banks, and the Germans haven't emasculated their labor unions.
