Vaccines do have risks
by jazzdev
The CDC says that vaccines do have risks. See <link> For example the smallpox vaccine has a 1 out of 83,000 chance of causing permanent brain damage. My best friend from high school had a healthy baby boy and after his immunization at about age 6 months developed seizures that caused permanent brain damage. He is now 12 years old, but will mentally always be a 2-year-old. Like your son, this is a heart-wrenching situation that I would not wish on anyone. So I can't fault parents who won't take that 1/83,000 gamble with their child.

But before the vaccine was wide spread, 300,000,000 to 500,000,000 millions people died wordlwide last century. Thats a much higher chance of dying from small pox than getting damage from the vaccine.

The fools of the world have an easier time wrapping their mind around a single example of a vaccine-gone-wrong than the idea that hundreds of millions of people have died from smallpox. Unfortunately, they act accordingly.

The risk of dying in a car accident is 1 in 6500. I can't imagine any parents would want to take that 1/6500 gamble by driving anywhere with their child. All parents and children should walk or take public transit until their child is at least 12 or old enough to fit in adult seatbelts to mitigate that risk. My cousin and her children got in a terrible car accident when her son was small that landed him in the hospital for weeks. I would not wish that on anyone. And it was totally preventable - they could have walked or took the bus. By not getting all the facts about vehicle safety, they put their child at risk.

Ah! But 10,000 non-occupant people (2007 statistics from Hartford Insurance) die EVERY YEAR in the SU alone....that means, that on any given day, 27 people DIE from getting hit by a car while WALKING!!!

Stupid anti-vaccers......only thing not dangerous in this life is being dead already.
