It was 10.8 in 1982. Cons blamed it on the previous administration.

Govt spending accounted for all of the so-called GDP growth...but tell me, what does govt. manufacture or produce?

EXAMPLE OF USGov. GDP growth:

Bankrupt USGov. spends $24K per $4,500 rebate check to entice already bankrupt U.S consumers to go deeper in debt by buying brand new cars.

REF:Cash for Clunkers costs taxpayers $24000 per car - Oct. 28, 2009

Oct 28, 2009 ... A total of 690000 new vehicles were sold under the Cash for Clunkers program last summer, but only 125000 of those were vehicles that would ...

WorldlyMrB--The other day, you had the taxpayer cost per vehicle at $45K or so; now you post it at close to just half that. (The cost seems to be pegged to the falling price of a Palin memoir.) Which time was in error? Is the discrepancy due to faulty sources, or to faulty reporting on your part?

YOU Mean this reference...

REF:Cash for Clunkers May Cost Up to $45354 Per Vehicle -- Seeking Alpha

The government is shifting tomorrow's demand to today, stealing from tomorrow to pay for today, but at great cost to the taxpayer. The "cash for clunkers" ...

It said "may" when it is all said and done. Because they argue that many of those who used the govt money to get a NO down payment loan will default in the future.

The 24K is the current cost of the gov distributing $4500 rebate checks for the Cash for Clunker.

So you may pick your poison if it makes you feel better.

1982 was Carter's fault so 2009 is Bush's fault? Got it.

so did the American people, which is why Carter was kicked to the curb.

I'm not the one picking a poison; it was you who chose two different figures to report. For all I know, one is poison, the other isn't; neither might be poison, or both might be. Pick one and stick with it. Want a little Kool-Aid to help it go down? That's what the Rev. JJ of Georgetown recommended, wasn't it?

Did not that President have access to a veto pen?
yes, that does have nothing to do with this argument
by Kal_Aline

as it was the congress that shot down the Presidents solutions, not the other way around.

sorry to ruin your premise.
