Justice is often a matter of pure dumb luck

Or, most of the time, being able to afford an attorney like this.

The thing about our system of justice is that the truth often means less than the people involved. It's easy to hate lawyers like this, but on the other hand, you have to wonder about the people who sit on the juries and hand this guy his 80% success rate. Juries are made up of people just like you and me, and ultimately we are the arbiters of justice.

Of course, if the lawyers present a flawed case, there's not much hope for justice to be achieved on any level.

well guess what if you cant afford a good defence lawyer dont break into a house or even hang out with convicted criminals.

if he wasnt in that house robbing stuff his fingerprint wouldnt have been in the house.

Well guess what? This country is supposed to operate under the rule of law. The law does not provide life imprisonment or capital punishment for a 13-year old for robbery. There seems to be real doubt that he received a fair trial.matter to you? Or are you so convinced that the government will never incorrectly arrest and prosecute you or someone you care about?

Actually I feel fairly secure because I'm not going to break into somebody's house. You on the other hand may indeed have cause for concern. Its hard for me to say.

I am sure you will continue to feel secure until the day when you are unfairly accused of something. Only then will you have an appreciation of how justice is not simply an abstract thought.

Actually, the issue is why you seem to feel the need to filter every issue through your silly-ass narcissism.

no i didnt say the rich can do whatever they want.

i said if you cant afford a good defence lawyer and not a public defender dont commit a crime.

why is it alot of people think it is alright to breakinto and steal other peoples things.

guess he got lucky he didnt break into my house while i was home he would have his head blown away from a shotgun blast.

there would have been no trial.

In reply to oxboggle: everyone's philosophy of life and therefore politics is filtered through their life experience.
