Minute Two: "FBI Says Not Hate Crime or Terrorism"
by Inkberrow

At that very moment I knew it the shooter had to be a Muslim. The authorities would never have said anything so premature and conclusory about any other issue or subject-area.

Hour or two later: "Dead assailant identified as Major Malik Nadal Hasan".

read para one, but need to take a break before finishing ..

suspense is killing me though .. (to self:) was it Barack?

Isn't that because
by Acrophony
"terrorist" and "Muslim" are roughly synonymous here? You wouldn't NEED to say it for anyone else because it wouldn't be the first assumption, or in most cases even the 4th.
Yeah, Dave, downplaying the connection between
by Inkberrow
Angry Hate-Filled Muslim and Multiple Violent Deaths In The Name Of Islam is the order of the day, to be sure, but you can't go straight to the Henny Youngman one-liners! Come back with that in a few days, after the righteous anger fades a bit. Now it's time for playing dumb about the Hate America connection.
They are not synonymous, Acro. That would be jumping to
by Inkberrow

conclusions to serve ideological or social-engineering agendas.

Which is exactly why I knew we had a Muslim shooter---because the normally staid, "no basis to comment yet" FBI would never otherwise assume publicly that "terrorist/hate crime" and Muslim were antonymous.

They did the same thing with the "Allahu Akbar" Utah shoppi9ng mall shooter. "Not a religious hate crime", they declared off the top.

Maybe in both scenarios we shouldn't be so hasty to rule anything in or out until the facts are in, eh?

Why the FBI is so chicken-hearted where Muslims are concerned is anyone's guess. I know I won't speculate.

Isn't it just a bit too early to be playing the "In the name of Islam" card?

If KB Hutchinson is correct, Hasan was "upset at being deployed to Iraq" rather than killing people in the name of Islam.

you're fucking obsessed.

some guy (lilmacg) over on another board stealing your material
Wow, he had an Arabic name.

Great evidence of motive, counsel. I think I'll sentence him to life without parole. What's that, he's dead? OK, to death without parole.

The New York Times is reporting that Sen. Hutchinson's office announced that Maj. Hasan, a psychiatrist, was "was upset about his deployment." Since my observation is that all mental health professionals are nuts, the conclusion I'll jump to is that that's his problem.

My brother, incidentally, is an army doctor at Ft. Hood. He's probably treating wounded right now. I hope, at any rate, that he was at the hospital when this happened, not in the readiness area. He's not answering his cell phone.

True that, Lono. I've a feeling that me and others like me
by Inkberrow

will prove to be even more Dangerously Obsessed in the minds of proggies around here than.....Major Hasan himself!

Hasan's an unfortunate weather front---me, now I'm a threat to the American way of life.

The reason for my post, Schmutzie, was to suggest that it
by Inkberrow

was a bit early for the FBI and other officials to be playing the "NOT in the name of Islam" card.

Not that "Hate America" Islam and "Don't Deploy Me Against Fellow Muslims, Bad America" is necessarily mutualy exclusive.....

My guess is that they were trying to...

...head off panic and retaliatory attacks on Muslims. Not a bad idea in the heart of Jack Dallas territory.
Why, Judge, if a naturalized German Major went on a
by Inkberrow

killing spree after being informed of his deployment against Germany, I think it might be a connection worth exploring on its face. The press might look at that, I'm guessing.

Agreed, no need for quick assumptions though. Like the FB et al's "No hate crime. No religious motivation. No terroristic Hate America aspect to the slaughter."

Best wishes for your brother, Fritz. And the others at Hood.

You're correct there, Arch. The Council on
by Inkberrow
Islamic American Relations will tell you that's far and away the worst thing that could happen today in and around Hood. Let's prevent that at all costs, including an upswell of genuine and long-overdue outrage.
